Importing electric cargo three-wheelers from China
What fleet buyers and distributors should verify before ordering electric delivery trikes or passenger three-wheelers.
01 / What matters
Choose specifications for the real operating environment.
Compare payload, battery chemistry, rated range, motor power, charging supply, spare parts and after-sales support. Ask for a consistent specification sheet and a sample assessment where practical.
02 / In scope
What we cover
- Confirm whether the vehicle can be registered for road use.
- Check battery documentation and freight classification.
- Agree spare parts, warranty terms and batch consistency.
03 / Before you proceed
Import classification can decide the whole project.
An electric three-wheeler may be treated as a road vehicle, low-speed vehicle or off-road equipment depending on the jurisdiction. Verify approval, licensing and use restrictions before committing to a shipment.

Official export requirements
China’s 2024 used-car export announcement excludes three-wheeled automobiles and low-speed trucks from its defined used-car category. Electric cargo trikes therefore require separate classification and route checks.
One common question
Are all electric trikes road legal?
No. The answer depends on the exact vehicle and destination rules; seller descriptions are not a substitute for local approval.
